Hi Curt
While we do not have a drone specific integration at this time, any device that is able to report its position via a REST API should be able to be added as a live track (please see this documentation for more information on live tracking: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/share/live-tracking). If your drones can do this then you should be able to display their position updates in CalTopo/SARTopo.
This is the support that we are able to offer at this time, but I would be very curious to hear from other drone users (or back from you if you are able to set it up), so we can help the drone community at large.
Rachel If you could make the APK available on your website as a sideload app (not in the play store) you might gain more intrest in this feature as we can not get the play store on the DJI RC Plus controller used for the enterprise drones such as the M30T.
We are looking at ways to track our drones also. Remote ID will push a signal and I see there are dongles available to capture this data I would hope that it could be pushed to SARTopo.
We would have an interest in tracking our drone also.
Did anything ever come of this? We have a DJI M30T as well and would like to be able to see the live location of the drone on CALTopo.
Nothing yet other than attaching a phone to the M30T
Have you tried the "Live Track - Fleet, Email, Other" under Add > Locator??
No
My group has 2 M30T’s. We like all the other features of Caltopo live tracking, and the ability to track our drones with this program would be a huge benefit. Perhaps Caltopo would work with another software company to integrate a program that already exists. I believe both companies would benefit from this.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
I reached out to CalTopo support to see if they know of any new features in this area.
I imagine DJI telemtry is rather locked down. If there is a way to easily extract live LLA data it wouldn't be too difficult to convert it into a Live Tracker.
So, new solution to this - Eagle Eyes Pilot is a DJI drone piloting app for SAR that lets you live track the drone position to CalTopo (I'm the developer)
See this video for how the livetracking works and this one for how you can drop laser-rangefinder points from the M30T into Caltopo. The app's in a testing phase now and we're aiming to roll it out in April 2025, feel free to reach out if you want to try it early.
Peter. Thank you for implementing this to eagle eyes. I'll check it out. Thanks
Curt,
Nice capability. Does the controller tie in via cell or wifi? Is this solution applicable to this model or generic? Is/will the app be open source?
Thanks
What is the cost of Eagle Eyes Pilot going to be?
I'd love to see this as an added feature without having to buy Eagle Eyes
You can now upload drone GPS tracks directly to CalTopo for free with the latest release of Eagle Eyes Pilot, our drone piloting app. Uploading tracks after the flight is available to everyone at no cost, while live tracking of the drone in real time still requires a paid license. Details on license pricing are available here: https://www.eagleeyessearch.com/pricing/
Other new Eagle Eyes - CalTopo integration improvements include:

@Patrick, That sounds really interesting. I'll have to look into that more and tinker with it on our M30T controller.
