Difficult Creating Map Sheet from aerial photo (non-geolocated JPG)

Jim Holmes

I'm trying to create a map sheet from an aerial photo (image). I upload the image and attempt to geo reference it, but I can't figure out how to show the image in the map viewer window. The only views available are existing base layers. I'm starting with a saved map and am on a team account, but am stumped on how to view the uploaded image in order to locate points 1 and 2 in order to align the map. I'm able to locate LatLng1 and LatLng2 on a base layer, no problem.

Thanks,

Jim

    Hi Jim,

When you upload the image, it should auto populate where you have the map located at the time of upload. If it doesn't show up on the map, something is going awry.  It is possible that the file type is not compatible as it is.

I recommend starting with this section of the User Guide: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/mapsheets/create-sheet. If you continue to run into the same thing, please send us an email at help@caltopo.com. If you can attach the file that is very helpful.

If anyone else experiences similar issues, try converting the JPG to a PDF. Rachel suggested that to me and things are now working as expected. Thanks Rachel!
