Send maps from the Desktop app to my mobile device - offline?

I am considering upgrading to the desktop plan so I can d-load onto my Macbook maps  I have made of WY, CO and UT for a 3 month van-camping and hiking trip.  While off-line I would like to be able to send those maps individually onto my iPhone.   I would replace the maps on my phone as I travel from region to region.  This tactic would avoid d-loading everything BOTH onto my phone and Macbook prior to departing on the trip.
Will this work as described here?  Bluetooth? Airdrop?  Cable plug-in?
