CalTopo History – self-hosted backup and versioning for CalTopo Team maps

Introducing CalTopo History – self-hosted backup and versioning for CalTopo Team maps

I’ve built a small open-source tool called CalTopo History to add backup, version history, auditing and recovery capabilities around CalTopo Team maps.

It runs self-hosted via Docker or on Debian and periodically captures map state so you can review changes, compare snapshots, inspect object history, and restore supported objects when needed. It also includes user management, audit logging, configurable retention and a simple map preview.

The project is independent from CalTopo and uses the documented Team API. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and available on GitHub:

https://github.com/DWeyel/caltopo-history

Docker image:
ghcr.io/dweyel/caltopo-history:latest

I’d be interested in feedback from other CalTopo Team users, especially around backup/recovery workflows and features that would make the tool more useful in real-world operations.

Feel free to use it and let me know what you think!

I've installed this on my test server.  Sure looks like you've done a fine job designing and implementing this and will definitely help us.  I've posted some user questions in the GitHub discussion.  Thanks!
