Add "Note" object

Jeff Kowalski

I can add a "marker", which associates a title and descriptive text with a coordinate.

What I want is a coordinate-free version of the same.  This object would not appear in the map since it doesn't have a coordinate, but it would appear in the object list at left, and could be organized into a folder.

Why is this helpful?  Because I could use it to create notes / instructions / containers for links to external references that apply to my map in general, or folder clusters, but not necessarily associated with a specific "place".

The "Note" elaborates ideas/information - more about annotating the objects list itself, whereas the "Marker" elaborates a place - more the map itself.

I would like to second this request.  A coordinate-less object would make our SAR template maps less awkward for noting things like weather and global hazards.

We also have information that is associated with the map content that does not need to have a location.

Same as Steve: things that we draw markers for, but would benefit from these being notes instead, to reduce map clutter and likely map confusion:
    - team rosters: right now we usually use one marker per team, all in a folder called Teams, and team member names are listed in the markers comments
    - MP info - 911 call log, scenario summary, subject description and plans, etc
There are of course debatable alternatives for all that, but having a left bar presence without a dot on the map would be nice.
