The new UI for displaying line width doesn't actually tell us the line width

when editing a line, we used to see the actual value of the line width. "2" or "4" or whatever. No more.

Now, to see the line width, not only do you have to click the mystery icon to open the edit style screen (why on earth is this dialog so big? are user asking to see visuals of every line style every time they want to change line width?), you have to actually interact with the line in order to to see the width value. The user should not have to hover over the slider nub to see the value.
