Four Dot Menu, Track Recording display, and Display Lock Menus disappear while track is being recorded

Track recording is initiated in airplane mode and the "track recording" block showing distance is displayed.  While the track is actively recording all three of the menu items disappear but the track continues to record.  It is not possible to stop and save the track either in airplane mode or when a data connection is initiated.  Recording is in a map.

    I have seen this same behavior the last couple of times I have recorded a track.  What I have to do is close CalTopo and restart it.  The track will still be recording, but I now have the menu to stop and close the recording track.

    Can you share what app version, device type and os version you are seeing this on?

    I just verified that as soon as I start a track, the 3 pcs of info at the bottom right disappear.  If I close CalTopo and restart, they are there and the track (which is still recording) can be closed.  The first screenshot is with the missing section, and the second is after closing and restarting.

    I did experiment with closing the app and restarting it and the menu does come up and the track is still recording, even when in Airplane mode.  The only other variable which may, or may not, play a part is I had opened up a map from Your Data instead of running the app with the default map.  The observed behavior is not consistent and 95% of the time track recording works as expected.  Other experiments I attempted were to attempt turning off the GPS to see if that caused the app to stop displaying the menu items.

    I am using an older cell phone without a SIM card to record tracks and display routes during gravel and mtb bike rides in areas with little or no cell service.  It is not out of the realm of possibility that some hardware or operating system functions are failing intermittently.
