CalTopo Help: Community Forum response time? "Community Forum" vs. "Submit a Request"

Tom

What is the CalTopo policy or practice about how quickly (if ever) CalTopo responds to posts in the CalTopo "Community Forum" at https://help.caltopo.com/hc/en-us/community/topics ?

I noticed today Jan 20, 2026 that there are posts as old as 10 days old and older that do not have a comment, and/or do not have a comment from CalTopo.

Ex.
https://help.caltopo.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/45620858137243-convert-a-line-to-a-buffer

https://help.caltopo.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/43581041404955-Creating-bathymetry-layer-from-i-Boating-WMTS-file

Further context:
The CalTopo "Community Forum" is listed as a resource at https://help.caltopo.com/hc/en-us

It is unclear to me when and why a person should use the CalTopo "Community Forum" , vs. when a person should use "Submit a request" https://help.caltopo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Suggestion:
On the CalTopo help page at https://help.caltopo.com/hc/en-us, include information about:
a. The CalTopo policy or practice about how quickly (if ever) CalTopo responds to posts in the CalTopo "Community Forum"
b. When people should use "Submit a request", and when people should use "Community Forum"

Thanks!

(I've used your product for many years and used to think it is a great product and used to recommend the product often. However, the recent changes to the product leave me confused.)

    Hi Tom,

The general help page does have a bit of context, seen here:
