Revert to old map layers display?

I logged in today to find that the table of contents for available layers has changed in the web interface. It looks pretty nice, but I prefer the old display, which required less scrolling and showed more available layers at one time. I don't find the little image previews to be useful, as I already know what each layer represents. Has anyone found a way to revert to the old display (where there are just checkboxes next to all of the layers) via a setting I'm missing?

    Me, too!

    Totally agree, 1000%

The list before was less noisy, more compact, required less scrolling, and was easy to see what was selected. The new interface makes all of that worse, even though it "looks pretty".

The first thing I looked for was a way to revert back to the way it was so I didn't have to scroll. In addition, I have a ton of my own custom layers and all of them don't have a little image preview - it just makes each list item like 3 times as high taking up too much screen real estate and now I have scroll way more than I had to before:

I couldn't agree more. The new navigation has a certain logic, but the graphical nature actually results in it NOT being readily navigable, configurable, or user-friendly. It isn't just a learning curve matter either, options are buried, some are not present (e.g. how to change to Google maps to find POIs), and it seems like an abortive effort to improve things but was one step forward, three steps back.

Hear, hear!!!   I do like the info displayed in the new table of contents, but it IS NOT convenient to use when consistently working between modes, especially if trying to work quickly.  UGH!   There are likely times where I'd like to have the expanded display available.  How about a toggle to chose the mode.  PLEASE.

Likewise. Still no response to consistent crosshairs visibility when using SIMULATED VIEW's MAP THIS SPOT, and I can't seem to find the labeled google map I sometimes need for cross-referencing. And then a bunch of stuff I like the others above don't feel is an improvement.

On top of that, the forum still requires me to sign in on M$ EDGE rather than what I used for everything else, FIREFOX.

I agree with the other comments. It is much more congested to find items. I now have to do more scrolling to find the items that I want to display. I do see that there are a ew new items but that doesn't make up for the inconvenience..

I also agree, sometimes change is not so good. Sorry to the team that put a lot of effort into this.

Agree that the new UI is confusing and "busy", and we're going to have to train our team members on how to use the "layer catalog" since some of the layers that we frequently use are now disabled in the catalog by default.  This is most certainly NOT an improvement.

I agree. It may look "pretty" but actually slows down mapping process.  No forewarning was certainly a blunder.  Did you guys just get a new management team of 20-somethings ??

I also agree with all comments - I prefer functionality to pretty icons.  All the other added functionality is fine, just delete or allow the user to toggle off the real estate hogging icons

It's not even pretty. The thumbnails are too small to provide useful information, all but brand new users know what the layers are by name anyway, there's multiple, garish colored descriptor words under the layer name which take up space and create visual confusion, and the More Info dropdown is information that should be in the tutorial, NOT crammed into the interface. If you're in the field, you KNOW what layers you're using and what they do. No one is standing in the woods clicking More Info to learn what a random layer does.

It's large, needlessly complex, and visually cluttered.

Edit to add: the checkboxes! It's not at all clear what they do from first glance. But I guess at least I can use an extra click to read a natural language description of a topo layer that I've been familiar with since you had to order paper quads.
