Maps not visible in iOS 18.7.2 on iPhone 12
For a few months now i have not been able to use the caltopo app due to the maps being completely blank. Regardless of what kind of base layer I select no maps is shown. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, etc and nothing changes. I can search for locations successfully and the coordinates and elevation will change accordingly but still, no visible maps. I submitted a support request a few weeks ago but haven't heard anything. Has anyone else had this issue before?

Hi,
Sorry to hear you encountered this. I suspect you are on iOS 18.7.2. You can check by going to to your phone Settings -> General -> About. There you will see the iOS Version. If it is 18.7.2 can you tap that and you'll be able to get the build version. The build version will be in parenthesis after the version number. If you see you are on an 18.7.2 Beta let us know.
Some of the iOS 18.7.2 builds and the Beta contain a bug that is causing issues with a widely used third-party software. There is currently no fix available, and we do not have control over this issue. The official release of most of the 18.7.2 builds but not all include a fix. We suspect iOS 18.7.3 to come out in about two weeks but that is just a guess based on Apple's history of releases.
Apple has also released iOS 26, which does not exhibit this issue and is available for update. Some users have noted aspects of iOS 26 they find less desirable, but as Apple’s latest iOS release, it will continue to receive updates and improvements, and is expected to eventually replace iOS 18. Upgrading now will fix this immediately.
Marc
