Compass NEWS direction
Where is an indicator of North, South, East, West?
is "up" North?
I can't find anything related to this in Help or Forum

If you are on the web North will be up unless you are on 3D mode. https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/getting-started/3D.
If on mobile, North will be up unless you have rotated the map. In which case a compass will appear on the right side of the app. https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/mobile/navigation#orienting
