Adding Canadian Wildfire perimeters to current overlays?

Daniel Dull

Just a thought, it would be handy to those of us who recreate across the border to the north, that the historic and active wildfire perimeters be added to the Fire History and Fire Activity overlays. The data is available here (https://climate.esri.ca/pages/wildfire) under an open Government License from Canada (https://open.canada.ca/en/open-government-licence-canada)

Thanks for the request, we'll consider your request going forward. In the meantime you can import this into a map or your account and get the data I believe you are interested in using our Custom Source and WFS features https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/base-layers/custom-source and https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/base-layers/wfs

In the Custom Source you can add this to the URL Template

    https://cwfis.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/geoserver/public/wms?SERVICE=WMS&?SERVICE=WMS&VERSION=1.1.1&REQUEST=GetMap&STYLES=&BBOX={left},{bottom},{right},{top}&WIDTH={tilesize}&HEIGHT={tilesize}&BGCOLOR=0xCCCCCC&FORMAT=image/png&EXCEPTIONS=application/vnd.ogc.se_inimage&SRS=EPSG:3857&LAYERS=m3_polygons_current&transparent=true

And this to the URL Template of the WFS

    https://services.arcgis.com/zmLUiqh7X11gGV2d/ArcGIS/rest/services/Active_Fires_Csv/FeatureServer/0/query?where=1%3D1&f=geojson&geometry={left},{bottom},{right},{top}&geometryType=esriGeometryEnvelope&spatialRel=esriSpatialRelIntersects&inSR=4326&outSR=4326&outFields=*&returnGeometry=true

That should give you the perimeters and some data.
