Adding text to custom maps

Greg Kallio

It would be really nice if one could add a text box to a custom map. My experience shows that the only way to add text is by labeling a map object, which is pretty restrictive in terms of placement and font size. I would like to make a map of our local Nordic ski trails for public use. Having the ability to add a text box would allow one to add titles, mileage, descriptive text regarding each trail, and other notes. Is this something that Caltopo plans to add, or have I missed a feature that allows this?

    Hello,

You can add small custom corner images created in other software (ie paint or word for instance) with a Pro level subscription or higher.

You can find more information about this here: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/print/pdfprint#managepdf

    Hi Rachel,

I want to follow up on this.  It would be really handy to be able to simply add a text box (not a corner image) to multiple places on a map. In my case, I often use the Division Markers )(.  That allows for a label next to the marker.  But sometimes that label is in the wrong place.  I want to add a text box midway between the markers to clearly identify an area.  I could drop in another marker with the circled letter, but that's not a standard map symbol and might confuse some people.  E.G. the circled H is the same as the helibase marker.
