creating maps, basic instructions including the actual border of the map?
Hi, how do I know if the map I created is actually on my phone, and what the border of the map is? I don't see any border to indicate the size of area included in the map.?? Also, if I create a map on the Caltopo.com, while I am logged in to my account, will it automatically be available on my phone when I am in the backcountry?

There is no border to the map on the web or mobile app, you can zoom out forever. If you add more than one marker or line, the map will auto load to zoom to the extent of your area covered. But as it is an interactive map platform, there is no border to the map.
Remember, a "map" that you create is really just a set of individual objects like markers, lines, and polygons (read the basic principles document - it explains this better. See: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/getting-started#basics ).
So the "border" of the "map" is just that extent to which it contains all the objects. You can view the "border" of your "map" by clicking the name of the map in the top left of the map view which sets the zoom level so it shows you all visible objects. In this example, you would click "Capital Peak Overnight" and the map view would set the zoom level so you would see all the objects (markers, lines, polygons) you selected to view.
What you might be asking is how do you download offline maps and what are the boundaries of those offline maps that you have saved. That is answered here: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/mobile/offline
Note that that downloads the base maps, not your objects like markers, lines, and polygons. Objects you create are always on your phone, so long as your phone has synced with the cloud data, which the mobile app should do automatically.
How do you know if your objects like markers, lines and polygons are all synced to your phone? Well, that's weird because the docs say there are sync indicators in the map list, but I don't see that myself. Either the docs are out-dated or this is a new feature I don't yet have. See the docs here: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/desktop/download#sync
If you want to manually sync to make sure your objects are on your phone, go to the map list and press the sync button (the circle icon made up of two curved arrows). That is documented here: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/accounts/account-items#syncing
Note also there is a "Synchronized" field that shows you the date in which its data was last synchronized - so that will also be an indicator that your data is up to date (at least as of that date/time):
Hi John, thanks for trying to help me!! When I click on the name of the map it opens to a blurry page with zero detail and the red marker that I originally stuck there. I have to zoom way out to see any kind of a "map" details. And then no matter how far out I zoom it never shows me a border or boundary of what I have actually downloaded onto my phone. I just think this stuff could be made to be so much easier to use for people who are not technically savvy. It is amazing technology, but why make it so difficult to use?
