Can you still download a KMZ file from the website?

lone luthier

Hello,

I'd like to download a KMZ file map to put on my Garmin Mapshare 66i since I use it more than my phone for hiking.

I've been finding a lot of instructions online that say you can use the website to select "Print" which will give you a choice of "Download KMZ", but all I can find is PDF or JPEG formats.

Is this because it is no longer offered without a premium subscription and, if so, which is the lowest that would allow this?

Technically I'm using a desktop to access the website, but I can't afford a $100 year sub at the moment, and I'm just accessing the website (not a desktop app) looking for what's described as a free ability in multiple places.

The $20 subscription for mobile devices I could do, if it would enable this. I appreciate the data and don't mind paying what

I can to support it.

Thanks!

Jeff

This feature can be found in this section of the userguide: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/print/print3#kmz. As stated on that page it does require a Pro subscription or higher.

I can't tell from the subscription options which one you would need. I'm using a grandfathered first responder account, and it can do that. (It's close to the current pro account) Hopefully, the mobile account is also able to print a KMZ file. An update to the subscription information page for more detail would be helpful.

    Thank you for weighing in!

If anyone has any idea if the KMZ download will show up for me if I get the $20 mobile sub, pls let me know. That would be doable for me.

"The Hiking Guy" with the domain named as such described downloading them for free, but all I see is PDF or JPG, at least now.

    Thanks!

Update: The Pro $50 /yr subscription is required to download KMZ files, to "use with a GPS" as described in the subscription level requirements, or any other reason in reality you might want to download the KMZ file.

I am interested in how jpegs can be integrated into maps as layers using opacity, but I sure will try to muster the $50 anyway
