Create Points - Index increment by "every X unit"

I used the Create Points feature on a line extensively this summer. However, I was on a large line(the Columbia River) and creating a mile marker every mile for 1200 miles hit the performance of the map pretty hard on mobile.

Before leaving, I experimented with creating a point every 5 miles...which worked great! But the index for the markers still began at 1 and incremented by 1. Is it possible to have the index increment by the unit distance we've chosen?
