no turn-by-turn navigation arrows after GPX export from Caltopo & import to Garmin watch

I have exported a 500km long off-trail planned route with 4000 points from Caltopo.com.

I have imported this GPX to my Garmin Enduro 3 watch via simple USB transfer, via Connect, via Explore & via Basecamp (also tried plotaroute.com).

Still I cannot get turn-by-turn navigation arrows and distances on the map screen of the watch with any of these methods (I can only see the distance of the destination with a flag).

How would that be possible?
