Difference Between Standard, High and Max for Downloaded Layers

Stoaty Marmot

There is no description about how these differ.  I am asking about MapBuilder Topo in the United States, specifically the Southern Sierra.  Would be useful to have in the documentation (unless I missed it somewhere).  Thanks.

    Hi John,

In general, the difference is how much you can zoom in on the downloaded layer. It can vary by layer but for MapBuilder Topo:
    •  standard= 5 meters/pixel (zoom 15)
    •  high= 2 meters/pixel (zoom 16)
    •  max has no additional resolution
It's worth noting that max does include higher resolution elevation data than the other two levels.

Practically we recommend trying out standard resolution and seeing if it meets your needs. If it doesn't, you can always download higher resolution layers for the same area.
