Caltopo pulling data from remote rather than the drone

In my agency, we use the DJI Mavic 3 for search and rescue. I got CalTopo installed on the DJI RC Pro remote. We would like the drones tracks to upload directly to the map. Instead, the tracks are recording from the remote. How can I go about having the GPS from the drone import onto CalTopo rather than the remote?

Hi Alexandru Libby, I'm curious to learn more about this setup.

A few questions to clarify what you are asking:

    • Are your tracks recorded from the remote currently showing up on your CalTopo app?
    • If so, why does the drone need to directly upload to the map?
    • Are you trying to get the tracks off of the controller and into a map on another device?

I am interested in a similar setup and would like to learn more

Sounds like the controller movement is what is being hacked, not the drone. I too an looking to get drone tracking on the map in near real- time.

The non real-time solution is tow download the flight record text files and use a converter to convert them to gpx files.

Eagle Eyes Pilot lets you track straight from the drone to CalTopo in real time.  See video: https://eagleeyessearch.com/pilot . The latest version lets you do this whether you're flying in DJI Pilot or Eagle Eyes Pilot - can also upload your flight logs to CalTopo post-flight.  Disclaimer - I'm the developer, so I'm biased - but it works!

My team is demoing Eagle Eyes right now and can attest that the tracking works. We had a large search the past couple of weeks and their scene analyzation works well too. Also I like the ability to import t assignments into the map on the controller.
