Fire History

Lance D Hopman

Hi,

Ability to download fire history layer for offline use.  Also ability to view specific year in fire history rather than see all at once.

Thanks,

I agree with this. This would be nice to be able to see separate fire layers.

Some mechanism to separate out the fires - year, by fire, something.  Maybe hovering over a fire name would highlight its boundary?  For the mountains and hills around Los Angeles, the question is not whether there's been a fire, but how many times.

Right now, we have only one option for filtering fire layers: selecting "2000-Present" instead of "1990-Present" when viewing the "Fire History" map overlay. The problem is that, even when restricting the view to "2000-Present," the map often becomes a mess in the west. Consider, for example, the map of the area around Lassen Volcanic National Park

Perhaps the simplest fix would just be to add finer filtering options to the interface that we already have. Even a single additional option—"2020-Present"—would help.
