We did just remove the Preset Layers. There are so many combinations people use and with our MapBuilder layer available we found them not as useful.

This decision was made partly because you can now set maps to open with the layers you want, essentially creating presets for your maps. Here is the section in the User Guide describing that https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/base-layers/using-layers#default

Where is the preset combination? It disappeared just when I needed it the most. The map you have definitely does not show the detail like the 7.5 topos etc.

I 3rd this. Not only should you bring it back, but add the ability to make custom preset combos

Need to bring presets back, or at least the ability to create a couple of custom presets. I cycle back in forth between maps and satellite all the time. Going to the drop down is inefficient when I'm doing it many, many times during a session.

I did love the presets as well. If we cant have them back, It would be great to be able to save our own.

I used the presets all the time so sad to see them go. If you could allow us to make our own presets, that would be way way better than it even was before.

Losing presets is frustrating since I'm often changing lots of layers, then wanting to go to the default mapbuilder topo quickly. Now I can't. But custom presets would let me do this so fast. I could have several custom presets for different info I'm trying to see in the same map, but would not be readable if simultaneous. Please add this feature!!!

I also need presets. I often switch between different types of maps.

For example, to switch what used to be the Forest Service preset, I need to:

    1. Select "Scanned Topos" as the underlying Base Layer
    2. Stack a "Forest Service" layer
    3. Set "Forest Service" layer opacity to 100%
    4. Stack a "Shaded Relief" layer
    5. Set "Shaded Relief" layer opacity to 25%

That's a lot of steps, Then I need similar steps to switch to another "preset". Then I need to repeat the above steps to switch back to what used to be the Forest Service preset. That's not practical.

+1 to using presets to "reset" after exploring different layer combinations.

The reasoning about there being many combinations possible makes sense, but when planning trips or doing other types of research I am often switching between many different combinations of layers, so the ability to choose up to, say, 3 preset combinations would be useful and also prevent you guys from needing to decide which presets make the most sense for all the users.

I'd like to have 'Presets' back too please.

I wish you could define custom presets and maybe map them to keyboard number for fast switching.

Yeah for custom presets! When presets disappeared I thought it was opposite the direction development should take.
