Export track as GeoJSON - Fails to import in Google Earth Pro and fails validators

Nash Pherson

Hello! I recorded a couple tracks and tried exporting them to GeoJSON and then importing into Google Earth Pro. It gives a "<file name>.json is no a valid GeoJSON file." error.

I also tried with some GeoJSON files others exported and get the same result.

Additionally, these two GeoJSON validators which both say the exports aren't valid:

https://geojsonlint.com/

https://www.itb.ec.europa.eu/json/geojson/upload

Any idea why CalTopo's exported GeoJSON files wouldn't be valid?

Thanks!

    Hello!

    Faced with same issue.

This service does not seem to support the GeoJSON Specification (RFC 7946)  https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc7946
They call it "geojson", but in fact it's their wrapper over the format with their own data. Calling it "geojson" and writing about it in the documentation is misinforming users.

Roman, I just tried a GeoJSON export with a point, line and polygon, and geojsonlint accepted it as valid.  Can you clarify what you are seeing that is disallowed by the specification?
