Bulk Ops Export Individual files (GPX)

wes

I often export each race segment as a separate GPX file. Very tedious. Good candidate for a Bulk Ops workflow.

    CalTopo

    Hi Wes -

This seems (to me) to be a niche enough feature that I don't know if we could realistically provide it.  Especially given that to play well with a browser, we would likely need to roll all the individual files up into a zip file and then pass you the zip file.

What are you doing with the individual GPX files after you download them?  We might be able to mhake some alternate suggestions based on knowing why you need them in separate files to begin with.

A lot of ultra marathons use Caltopo to distribute courses, and so even more ultra runners need to interact with and download those maps to prepare for the race. I often end up helping other runners through this, it doesn't feel super-niche to me.

    Here's what we're doing:

    • Some people export the entire route in one line to their watch, but a lot of us like to do it in segments.
    • Either the race provides segment by segment lines, or we make our own
    • We export each segment from Caltopo as a separate GPX file, then have to import each GPX file into our watch's software-- for me I upload each to Garmin Connect. (Garmin cannot import a single GPX file that contains multiple lines.)
    • After uploading, the course gets synced to my watch where I can use it during the run.

If you can Garmin came up with a better way to get a collection of lines into Garmin Connect as a collection of Courses with one click, that would be way better. Right now it is double-hassle. Hassle exporting every line, then hassle importing every line. A one-click cloud to cloud solution would be ideal.
