Different kinds of "tracks"
Hi
I've just started using CalTopo. I successfully created my first map and then recorded a track on my Android device. After finishing the recording I decided that I needed to rename my track from "2022-10-30 to field" to "Trail to Tom's Cabin. I was able to rename the "track" in the web Lines and Polygons section as shown in the image.
However, I was surprised when what I thought was the same track still had the original name in my data:

What is the difference between the two instance of the "same" track?
Also, is there anyway to rename the one that is being stored in my data?
Thanks a bunch,
Elliot

Hi Elliot,
There is a section in the userguide here on managing tracks online vs. in the mobile app. You are correct that the track name will need to be edited online.
What you have edited in your first screenshot is the name of that line (it appears this was a track that you imported) in a specific map. The track itself can be edited online by clicking "your data" in the upper right hand corner, then "your tracks" and edited there. This will auto populate in the app if your app is connected to data/wifi.
If you feel there is a delay in updating information in the app, you can sync your account. Go to the menu (three bars) in the upper left corner, scroll down to "account". From here you can select "sync now", and any updates you've made online should sync to the app.
Hi Rachel
Thanks for getting back to me :))
I don't believe I made myself clear. In fact, when I click on my data in Chrome on my laptop and the then my tracks I don't see any way to edit the track name. When I click on the name, I'm brought to the details screen but again I don't see anyway to actually edit the name.
I'm including a "loom" video link that shows what I'm doing:

Thanks
Hey Elliot, when you're looking at the map itself you can click on that route and hit "Edit" to get into the name and color and other details of the route. In all my years of using CalTopo I have never once visited that "Your Tracks" tab you're on.
