We did a training the other night where we opened up a mission and added some guests with the QR code. We couldn’t figure out how to see their tracks thought to help us figure out our POD. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Mike,
Going to need a bit more information. We use QR codes in a variety of ways. You can gain access to a map with read, update or write access, or you can join a team or an event with a variety of access levels. What QR code were you using? What map were you using? Did users write their tracks to the map or did you only have them turn on share location? If they didn't write tracks to the map how did you collect the tracks afterwards?

We have a ton of reference material available at training.caltopo.com, particularly the team accounts page: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/team-accounts

Let me know some more specifics of how you were utilizing the tool and we should be able to better help you debug the issue you're having.

    Best,
    Ben

It was a team map we had them join. We just turned on the tracks. Still really new to this. How do we write their tracks to the map?

    Hi Mike,

By having them join a team map, did you share the team map with them via QR code or another method? And if you shared it by QR code, did you generate a QR code with update or write access? In order for someone to record their tracks directly to a particular map, they do need to have update access or higher to that map. If they only have read access to a map, any tracks they record will only save to their account and not the map- this is one possible reason you may not have seen the tracks on the map. More information on sharing maps via QR codes with different access levels can be found on this page on our training site.

In addition, did the users set their track to record to "Account + This Map"? If a track is set to record only to a user's account and not a particular map, only the user recording the track will be able to see it. Nobody else viewing the map will be able to see the track since it is only recording to the user's account and not the map itself. This page on the training site covers how to record tracks, including how to set tracks to record to a particular map.

And what do you mean when you say you "turned on the tracks"? Did you turn on one of the overlays and if so, which one? If tracks are recording to a map, they will appear in an App Tracks folder in the Objects menu on the left side. Live tracks do not show up in any of the overlays on the right side. You can learn more about the different types of location sharing and tracking on this page on the training site.

    Thank you,
    Meghan
