2021 Salt Fire missing from Fire Activity layer

At what point are fires removed from the "Fire Activity" layer? I'm trying to create a map for our Firewise Community and I can access Fire History for the area and up until recently, the most recent fire, the SaltFire (Shasta County) 2021, was showing up under the active fire layer. Now it's gone and I'm wondering what my options are for adding that perimeter to my map. If I go to the NIFC site, I can grab a KMZ file format, but not a KML format.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

The Fire Activity overlay displays active fire perimeters. Fires disappear from the fire activity overlay once they are removed from the underlying dataset, typically after they have been declared contained, controlled or out. For example, the Salt Fire has been 100% contained since the end of July. However we recognize that there is a lag right now between when a fire disappears from the fire activity overlay and when it shows up in fire history. We are looking into options for including current year fire perimeters that are currently absent from both the fire activity and fire history overlay so we may have a better solution for you soon!

In the meantime, I did a quick Google search and it looks like fire perimeter data is also available from the NIFC in KMLor GeoJSON format. You can even filter the data to only include the fire perimeters you are interested in. Probably worth checking out: https://data-nifc.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/wfigs-2021-wildland-...
