We are in the business of offering commercial Insurance and really like the Fire Tracking + Wind Direction tool. We would like to import our Insured addresses into your tool, current we are adding each location manually to the map. We are not familiar with any of the formats you mentioned to import. We have a couple of questions related to that
1: Can we input/import all our locations into the Fire Tracking map in some sort of a batch way?
2: What is the best way to convert our addresses to one of the formats you need - KML, gpx, kmz, or gogeojson?

Any kind of help/guidance is appreciated.

Thanks
Kanchan

Sure, I will send it by tomorrow morning. We have our insured addresses in our sql server database that we will need to geocode first and store in a csv file and then convert that to Geojson and then feed it to the map or send it to you?
Does this sound right or should I think about this differently?

    Thank you

    Hi Julie,

Please see attached csv file and its corresponding GeoJson output. I was able to import this file into your tool which is awesome and I am able to see the lat-long but unable to see the labels for the addresses, they are currently showing as ‘NA’. Also, when I click on the dot, I see them as ‘unnamed object’ instead of the actual address - Please see screen shot below.

Can you please let know what could be going wrong?

Thanks, Kanchan- the file came through. Unfortunately we are a small company and unable to offer phone/virtual meeting support at this time but we'll take a look at the file and see if we have any ideas for how you could bring it into CalTopo.

    Thank you,
    Meghan

1: Addresses to show on the map instead of N/A
2: Map marker to show in blue

    Hi Kanchan,

You'll need to find an online converter that can take your spreadsheet with the lat/long and names and convert them to a GPX file. GPX is probably the easiest file type to work with for this use case. You may be able to encode the blue marker color into that, but it may be easier to use the bulk ops edit feature within CalTopo to make the markers blue that way instead of doing that before import.

    Thanks,
    Julie

    Julie,

Thanks for your input. I used the below took and settings to convert to gpx , but It still shows the addresses as N/A. Can you send me a sample GPX that works as per the requirement?

    Kanchan,

Basically the gpx files needs a name element that contains the address text. However you are setting it up or converting it now is setting the address as a custom field, which we don't support.

You can create markers in CalTopo and export them as a GPX file to get a sample file.

    Thanks,
    Julie
