Different explicit scales for different pages

Related to https://help.caltopo.com/discussions/general/8077-print-to-pdf-diff... but not quite the same.

I want to print one page at 1:15840 and another page at 1:31680. When I change the scale, it changes the scale for all pages, not just the current one.

It appears that I can drag the boxes differently on different pages, but can't explicitly set the scale differently.

It happens that I want to use custom scales, but the same issue applies to the various "canned" scales.

(Happily, because you let me zoom in pretty much as close as I like, I can set the scale precisely by dragging. But it would be better if I could explicitly set the scale for each page.)

You are correct, there's no way to explicitly set each page when creating a multipage PDF. However, there is a workaround - just make several PDFs! If you need to reference the edges of different PDFs, you can use the "load from" function to see where the previous PDF boundaries were.

I can certainly pass this on as a feature request, but I don't think I've ever heard of anyone else ask for it, so it won't be a high priority, especially since you can just make a separate PDF.

Probably the easiest workaround is to zoom way in and then drag to get
    the scale desired.

Making multiple PDFs works, but then is awkward with things like wanting
    to print double-sided.

In the particular case, I wanted a larger-scale map that showed exactly
the planned hike, and on the other side of the page I was going to do a
smaller-scale map that showed more context in the surrounding area.

I suppose I should get a PDF surgery program that would let me
transplant pages from one to another.

    Thanks for listening.

Thanks for the additional explanation.. As Julie said, we can pass this along as a feature request but it does seem to be a very niche use case and is unlikely to be a high priority.

    Thanks for using CalTopo!
