What is the map overlay called Shared Images? The CalTopo App does not seem to have the capability to take a photo which would then appear on the map as a Marker (ie Waypoint or point object), or to add a photo to a Marker. Is this a planned feature which then would be tied to Shared Images?

    Hi David,

Thanks for reaching out! The Shared Images map overlay allows you to view geospatial images on the map. The current name that appears in the drop down menu is just a placeholder though- that name will probably change in the near future as we continue to work on it. I've attached a screenshot so that you can see this overlay in action.

And you are correct- currently, you cannot attach a photo to a waypoint. We do plan to add the attach a photo feature in the near future although there is no definitive timeline yet. This would be a separate function from the Shared Images map overlay. We're still working out what it will look like/how it will work but the ability to add geospatial images to a map directly will most likely be a pro subscription level feature.

    Cheers,
    Meghan
