Hello, is it possible to import routes from my garmin inreach to caltopo? If so, please describe how I would do it? Thanks.

    Hello Peter,

Here is the section in our user guide on working with GPS units: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/import-export/gps. Check it out!

    Best,

The garmin in reach is not one of the listed garmin units that supports a USB mass storage interface. Also, it is a relatively new type of garmin device not a “Very Old Garmin Device” so is the answer I am not able to import routes to cal topo from the in reach?

Hi Peter - I'm just another user, but our SAR team and other SAR teams have
determined the Explorer+ series is not usable for us due to the fact that
you cannot download its tracks unless you have an internet connection to
talk to the Garmin mothership. A few folks have had to return or exchange
their Explorer+ units because of it. But, that was a while ago, maybe
there is a better option now, or something we weren't thinking of.

    Peter,

You may need to connect with Garmin to figure out how to get the tracks. If you can find the GPS or KML or GeoJSON files associated with the tracks, then you can import them. Accessing those files for your specific device is something you'll need to figure out with the device manufacturer.

    Thanks,
    Julie
