This is most likely due to a setting on your phone, such as how long it takes until the screen times out, and not the CalTopo mobile app itself. Which settings you need to change and where will depend on your specific device but it's usually under the Display menu in your device settings. Try that and see if it helps resolve your issue. Just keep in mind that having the screen on for longer periods of time can be a bigger drain on your battery, no matter what app you are using.
