Sharing coordinates

Would be nice if the caltopo app had a menu function to share coordinates and copied them into your phone clipboard, or drafted an email, or provided a link to the caltopo or google maps point. It's pretty hard to do in the app.

Also, I find map markers to be funky. Are they associated with the map itself, or the account. They seem to follow me around in different maps. Making this clearer, and being able to clearly copy points to another map (for example) would be great.

    Hi Erik,

Have you tried tapping on the position display (the box in the upper right hand corner with the coordinates, elevation etc listed)? Tapping it should bring up options for sending (by text, email etc) the coordinates in the position display. Keep in mind that the coordinates in the position display are always for the center of the mobile map viewer (where the cross hairs are).

And markers are associated with the map itself. As long as you save the map initially, any markers you add to the map will automatically sync. If you're new to CalTopo, this page on our user guide helps explain how the app works, including the relationship between map objects (like makers) and maps: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/getting-started/first-map

You can easily copy markers from one map to another on the web by using the "Copy to New Map" option in the Export menu. More information on this function can be found here: https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/import-export/export#copy

    Best,
    Meghan
