Elevation Profile: Compare Two Points & Slope at Cursor

I still find myself using Garmin Basecamp along with Caltopo when planning trips, and one thing I really like in Basecamp is the ability to select and compare two points on an elevation profile (see attached screenshot). It's a very quick way to extract distance, elevation change, and average slope between two points of a larger track/route.

Caltopo displays this data, but only for the entire elevation profile. So the same thing can be accomplished by isolating a section of track (splitting tracks or just drawing a temporary track). So it's still possible, but just takes a couple extra steps and can't be changed/updated as quickly. This would be a neat feature to have in Caltopo, but I'm sure it's not an easy thing to implement.

Another feature I like in Basecamp (that is probably easier to implement in Caltopo) is the slope readout at the cursor. Currently, as you trace a profile in Caltopo, only the distance and elevation is displayed for the cursor. It would be nice to see a slope readout at the cursor as well.

Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback! We are working hard to ensure CalTopo continues to improve and that work is often thanks to users sharing their thoughts and feedback. We'll consider these requests going forward. We often take a variety of user requests and incorporate them into a larger function, so stay tuned as we release new features throughout the year!
