Is there a way to set the Marine Chart Level?

When using the Marine Charts they are basically useless for anything but zoomed way in because it uses the large scale overview maps which do not have any detail. Is there a way to have it zoom out on the more detailed tiles instead? A change of the levels used at each magnification level would be very helpful as well as being able to set the level of detail you want instead of having it change with zoom level.

Thanks,
    Jess

    Hi Jess,

For the built in layer, no, there's no way to set an adjustment level for this. If you would like, with a Desktop level subscription or equivalent, you can bring in a custom layer which should let you set more of this type of detail/zoom level. I believe teh source can be found at https://nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/data/gis-data-and-services.html#sea.... You would be looking for the WMS type webserver and instructions for getting it into CalTopo are at https://training.caltopo.com/all_users/base-layers/custom-source.

    Thanks,
    Julie

Currently the marine charts are basically useless because of this issue. Yall really should look into adjusting which level of charts are used at which zoom level.
