I hike a lot in New Hampshire White Mountain Forest. I was pleased to discover Caltopo has Lidar Hillshade imagery, but for some reason doesn't appear to be available for all areas of NH. I also use Lidar imagery offered by State of New Hampshire GranitView. Granitview offers complete Lidar DSM and Hillshade imagery data sets. This is Lidar by airplane - not satellite so it is super accurate. Problem with GranitView is I can draw lines but they are crazy shape files which I can't work with. If Caltopo had great Lidar image files I could use Lidar images to trace out logging roads in Caltopo and down load them as GPX track files and this would be really useful - especially for SAR folks who wouldn't mind know where and how to get GPX files for them.

    Hi Raymond,

Where available we incorporate LIDAR data from the USGS 3DEP program which has up to 1-m resolution. Currently we don't have coverage in that particular area (you can see an interactive map of LIDAR coverage here ) but we do periodically update our coverage as the 3DEP program expands their coverage so keep an eye out for that! We don't plan to incorporate local LIDAR data since 1, many of the local entities are or will be incorporated in the 3DEP data set, and 2. there is potential conflict checking/data currency issues when starting to incorporate lots of data sets in that manner.

If you have a desktop or team subscription, you can transform shapefiles into custom layers using MapBox. More information on this feature can be found here.

    Best,
    Meghan
