Problem: Different sites, apps, devices, etc. estimate elevation gain and loss statistics in different ways, and these stats are sometimes way off from what a human person might estimate "manually".

Request/Solution: A way that a person using CalTopop can review and understand how CalTopop is estimating the elevation gas and loss statistics CalTopop provides.

This could be offered as another CalTopo Pro feature and might be another feature that gets more people to use CalTopop and pay for a CalTopo Pro subscription.

One Idea: In a table, show all "points" CalTopop uses to calculate total elevation gain and loss, with the distance from the start, the elevation estimate for each point, and the gain and loss from the "prior" point, so that if a person summed these individual gains and losses, they would get to the total elevation gain and loss CalTopop provides.

Point Number | Distance from Start | Elevation | Gain or Loss From Prior Point
1 | 20' | 5,000 | NA
2 | 20 ' | 5,010 | 10'
3 ...

Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback! We are working hard to ensure CalTopo continues to improve and that work is often thanks to users sharing their thoughts and feedback. We'll consider these requests going forward. We often take a variety of user requests and incorporate them into a larger function, so stay tuned as we release new features throughout the year!
