we recently had a search for a downed plane and all my guys using the phone app, including me, got this pop up error.

they and I used the links provided or generated by sartopo to access. I tried both the map links (ADD and Write) but still got this.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Dave,

It appears that you are using a browser to run the program instead of the mobile app. So that could be the first issue, though I am able to get my location via the browser also. It sounds like SARTopo is not able to access location services on your phone. Please make sure that CalTopo/SARTopo has access to location services.

    Thanks,
    Julie

    Hi Julie,
Sorry, yes from a browser, it seems tracking via the app works.
Shouldn't it also track from a browser?  This is what and where it takes you, browser rather than app, when you share the map.
Is this something we need to make sure our or anyone we share to is using only the app?  Just worried those who don't have the app such as maybe a sherrif or PD would be able to show their search done.
    Thanks a million!

    HI Dave,

It should take you to the app when you open a link. If it's not doing that, the most likely there is some phone setting that is sending the link to the browser instead. I'm not sure what types of phones you are on, but on Android I know there is a setting where the first time you open a link that could go to a browser or an app, it's possible to tell the phone to "always open" with one or the other. If the phones are set to always open SARTopo links with the browser, then it will do that. A web search for your phone type should find the instructions for how to clear "always open with" settings.

    Thanks,
    Julie
