Limit on waypoints in a GPX?

I'm trying to import into the website a GPX file with around 17k waypoints, but it doesn't seem to work. Although the 'Import Data' window pops up showing the various waypoints, once I click 'Import' the browser tab goes unresponsive and eventually turns white. I've attached some images that may or may not be of any use. If I include only around 5k or so waypoints in the .gpx, it loads properly and the waypoints display on the map, though the map isn't quite so responsive as usual.

I figure the answer is just that 17k waypoints is simply too many for one map, but I might as well check.

    It shouldn't be too many points, we can add tracks with huge numbers of points. Can you send me the file? I'll do a little debugging.

    Best,
    Ben

    I've attached the file. I created it with gpxpy, so it's entirely possible
    I did something wrong, though the formatting seems to check out:

    $ SAXCount -v=always -n -s -f CA.gpx
    CA.gpx: 660 ms (51851 elems, 34573 attrs, 276535 spaces, 1414249 chars)

    Thanks for looking into it!

    Best,

    Scott

    So I tried this file on my test machine. The good news it doesn't actually create any error on the backend and actively is importing. The bad part when I killed it at an hour it still hadn't finished importing and I don't have any handle on how long it would take, and then how long the resulting map would take to load.

    Options would be to break it up into smaller imports and bring it onto a map in pieces, but again the map will probably be an issue from a loading and usability standpoint with that many points.

    Other option would be to split it onto several maps which will probably work a lot better.

    Best,
    Ben
