This there a way to add live aprs data to the map layers

    Meghan,

    I have followed the instructions and still not getting any aprs messages
    from any call signs entered. I have checked aprs.fi and they are showing
    there. Please see the attached pictures, and advise what to do next.

    Hi Cameron,
    I'm unable to see a few things in the screenshot, so apologies for any duplicity.

    Can you verify that the APRS locator has an updated location after the locator was added to sartopo. Can you additionally verify (unless you're using a local TNC) that the device has internet connectivity.

    Not sure what you mean by locator? And yes I do have a good
    internet connection; we have been unsuccessful at getting the desktop
    version to work with a tnc (which is what we need for the field as internet
    is spotty).

    Just attaching better screenshots of what I have on aprs! Of all the aprs
    programed in; the only label that is populating is the JCSDA Team label and
    they are all done the same. You can see kg5mrb is populating in aprs.fi but
    not sartopo. Same with the other labels. Also when you click on the graph
    for the aprs profile nothing populates.

    CalTopo does not go back and get historic location data. We only will track and add locator data AFTER it is added to the map. Is this possibly the root issue? Are all these locators providing location reports after the time they were added to SARTopo? In the only screenshot I saw there was a locator with a report to APRS.fi 90min or so before the screenshot from SARTopo, though I recognize you may be taking screenshots a while after configuration.

    We're a small company and unfortunately not able to offer phone support. I'm happy to answer questions via e-mail here. We typically go through a defined set of troubleshooting steps for APRS.

    The two most common issues are: Locators are being reported to APRS.fi (such as a phone based locator) but not to APRS-IS, we pull data from APRS-IS directly. And the second involves timing, we don't pull historic location data, only data after the time the locator is added to SARTopo.

    So i have removed and readded my call (KG5MRB) to the labels, and still not
    pulling any data. When I am trying to see the data on sartopo my radio is
    on and reporting. so, if I am on a search and rescue mission will I have to
    add and remove the team call signs every time to see data?

    Hi Corley,
    When I look at that callsign, I see a position report from 2021-06-09 06:06:22 MDT (6h19m ago). (https://aprs.fi/info/a/KG5MRB-9) As I said above, CalTopo only pulls in new position reports AFTER the date and time the locator is added to the map. You'll need to go generate new position reports with your radio that are picked up by receivers and routed out to APRS-IS. If a new position shows up in APRS.fi that is confirmation that has occurred, and should be reflected on the map in CalTopo.

    As for configuration that depends on if you have an individual or team account. If you have an individual account yes, you have to configure locators for each map. If you have a team account however you can configure all radios one time and then they are available as a location overlay for the entire team.

    I am trying to set this up for Jefferson County Search Dog Association (Bud
    Dixon) whom has been a long time member and user of caltopo. This
    troubleshooting is becoming extremely difficult over email can we do a team
    meeting of something similar since you do not have phone support? because i
    also need help getting the desktop version to work on my computer which is
    proving to be extremely difficult for a guy that works in the IT industry.

    Hi Corley,
    I'm sorry you are having trouble setting up APRS. I looked at your locator group setups and your APRS.fi and I think I found the map you are using, and I'm seeing a couple locators showing up (that have recent position reports). As I said in my e-mails the callsign you list hasn't been heard by APRS-IS since you added the locator group and thus cannot be added. That's the extent of the support I can provide you at this time with the information you've given.

    We do not offer support via phone, video, etc, we offer e-mail and web based support only, however we are responsive to inquiries typically in less than a day.

    I tried to find an account for the organization you listed (Jefferson County Search Dogs) but I'm unable to find a team account under that name, your e-mail address or under Bud Dixon. I also was not able to find a desktop account, which could explain some of your challenges. If you do have a team account please let me know what e-mail address the account is under.

    If you don't have a team account it sounds like your uses are best served by a team account (sartopo.com/teams). Team accounts also include a 1hr getting started video call with our training team where we go over basics of SARTopo functionality. You would be able to configure locator groups one single time for the team account instead of each time you want to use them on a map.

    javascript?
