I have a Backcountry Navigator app on my smartphone. It uses Cal Topo US 24K maps. If I take a screen shot of an area of the map along with a trail I have marked and post it on a website I have created, does that violate the copywright?

This is a just for fun, not for profit site that gives info on the local wilderness areas around Fresno County.
i'd like to add trails to my site, but don't want to run afoul of copywright laws.

    Hi John,

Thanks for reaching out. You'll find restrictions and licensing information within our Terms of Use (http://caltopo.com/about/terms-of-use/). The long and short is you can use iFrames to embed our maps in another website. You can also share PDF files you create. However we don't allow screenshots of our maps (needs to be generated PDF or embedded iFrame). You also cannot print and distribute maps without permission.

    Thanks!
    Julie
