App Tracks

I have a First Responder pro account. If I create a map and call it up on my phone app and record a track, I see the track on the desktop map and when I finish the track and save it, the track turns into a line as it is supposed to. If I share the map with a team member but don't give them a password to edit the map, will a track that they generate show up on my map and can they save their track to my map?

    HI Charles,

To do this, you would want to open your map, and go to Collaborate (on the left, under your user name). At the bottom of the window that opens, you should see, in blue, "+ Create Password of Shareable Link". When you click that, you can set the permissions for map access. Read will allow the user to see, but not edit. Update will allow the user to add items (such as their track) but not delete anything. Write will allow the user full access.

    Thanks,
    Julie

    Julie,
Thank you. I see that. There are 2 options. Create a shareable link or
create a password. Under the Create a shareable link, I see the option of
update. If I click on OK it generates a shareable url. If I send someone
that link do they still need a password. Under generate a password, I only
    get the option of Write.

We are working to deprecate the use of passwords and moving toward URLs. If you generate a sharable URL and share it, the user automatically gets the specified level of permission based on that URL (Read, Update, or Write).

We highly recommend using URLs moving forward instead of passwords.

Of note however, we would recommend a team account (https://sartopo.com/about/pricing/team-accounts) for organizations to enable fast and easy sharing as well as permissions management at the team level. It allows multiple users to update a map very quickly and easily without having to generate URLs or use other sharing methods.

Thank you. I ageee. I would like our team to get an account but we have so
few searches in our area where we need maps. It’s a tough sell to spend the
money along with other obligations that we have. I want to support Matt so
I purchase a private account for when we do need some of the pro features.

    Julie,
I was trying to get the tracking to work. I generated a map. I then went to
collaborate, and set the sharing screen to update, and generated the long
URL. I had another teammate download the APP. He signed in. He tried to
make a bookmark to go to that long URL but the bookmark only allowed the 4
digit URL that didn't include collaboration. He entered the long URL into
his browser and went to the map but he was in the Web page and not the APP,
so he didn't have access to tracking. How do you get to the map page with
    sharing within the App?

    Chuck -

Sorry, there's a disconnect here because we just developed the feature, and for various reasons need to roll it out to the site before the app. The long URL support is coming to the app really soon, but in the meantime they still need to use the 4-digit code and a password within the app.

Or, they can open the long URL on the website (including viewing the website on their phone), and if they're signed in, it will create a bookmark that syncs to the app.

Give it a few more weeks and this will all be resolved to the point where you cant print a QR code with that URL in it, they can scan the QR code, and they'll get update level access to the map.

    Matt,
Thanks for the information. I guess that we will have to wait for you to
finish everything. My concern about the password is that I only have an
option to authorize WRITE. I didn't want to give everyone that permission.
I am looking forward to seeing the complete update.
