Mixed online/offline use of SAR Topo at Incident Base?

I'm a volunteer with Santa Fe SAR in New Mexico. We are in the process of reviewing / revamping our incident management and mapping and are looking at SAR Topo for that purpose. One of our field commanders have purchased a satellite internet devices that also sets up a small local area network for use at IB. So when using that device we would have internet access at IB - however a pretty slow connection.

My question is: is it be possible to run SAR Topo off one of your thumb drives, so that high bandwidth information such as maps is pulled from the thumb drive, but features requiring an Internet connection, such as Delorme tracking and the search function, would be pulled through the satellite internet connection?

For some features, yes. For example you could switch back to Google's map viewer to get named location searches back, although you'd need to register your own maps API key.

InReach tracking is pretty much a non-starter because it relies on Delorme pushing data to my server. Their enterprise API only lets you push to one location, so you'd have to choose between updating sartopo.com and updating your local install, and your local install would need to live at a fixed IP address or DNS name, which is hard to pull off with any degree of reliability over a satellite connection. Technically possible but very complicated.

The online-only map layers such as MapBuilder and the land management overlay would be easier to integrate.

Thank you Matt. We'll have to play around with the the options. Incorporating Google maps would be a nice option.
