Real Time Tracking App

Hello there.

I am looking at SARTopo for our Service. I am wondering if there is anything in the works to allow elements to self report their positions within say a Tracking Object? Either have an app running in the background on their phone, or a means they can just pull out their phone and hit update lets say? Allowing a Search Manager to have an instant update on positions?

Thank you

Not as a smartphone app, at the moment, but a local / offline copy of SARTopo can interface with both APRS TNCs and Kenwood Fleetsync systems. Although pricier, if the CP has internet coverage, I can also collect locations and tracks from enterprise DeLorme inReach devices.

Cell phone service is generally not reliable on searches, so creating any kind of tracking or data reporting solution based on cell phones is not as high of a priority for me as interfacing with radio based solutions.

    Hello Matt:

I can understand that things are pretty hectic for you at the moment with
the fires in your area. Just wondering if you could pass along the new
procedure for using the offline maps for SAR groups. Just if you have a
link or a canned message you could forward?

Sorry - can you clarify what you're asking?

If it's just the downloadable app / map files that went live earlier this year, see
