Hi, I am very new to caltopo. I notice that on the page "http://caltopo.com/offline/data" there is an option to download "All Layers" (which I did) but I don't know what to do with the file with extension .crdownloads. Thanks for any input.
BTW: great product.

The "all layers" link should open a new browser window with a bunch of URLs on it. If you're downloading map files via your browser this doesn't really help you any, but it's useful when using bulk downloading scripts like wget or curl.

.crdownload is a temporary file created by Chrome when it's downloading a large file - it saves the data as .crdownload until it's done, to prevent you from opening an incomplete file, and then renames the file when the download finishes.

You probably just need to wait for the file to finish downloading, unless clicking the "all layers" link (as opposed to links on that page) immediately causes a .crdownload file to show up, in which case something very odd is happening.

Thanks a lot. You answered all my questions. I am not going to use wget to
    download Caltopo maps.
