As I migrate from one laptop to another, can I just copy the map tiles I have downloaded to the new laptop, rather than download them all again?

Yes, you can copy the map tiles over to your new laptop using copy and paste. The /data/tiles folder contains all the map tiles however it would probably be even simpler to just copy the entire application folder over to the new laptop.

As a reminder, copies of the desktop software may not be transferred to other devices or storage except for a single backup copy per the CalTopo Terms of Use. It sounds like you are transferring it from an old laptop to a new one and if this is the case, you should be good to go. More information on the Terms of Use can be found here: https://caltopo.com/about/terms-of-use/.
