Adding TMS map source

Hello,
First off, I've been an avid CalTopo user for quite a few years, and absolutely love it. So thank you for your time creating such an amazing resource. I have a question about adding a custom layer, for slope angle shading in Norway. When the layer appears, it is at the wrong scale: what should be a map of Norway is stretched across parts of Africa and Europe. Is there a way to fix this? Here is the URL I am copying into CalTopo: http://gis2.ngi.no/arcgistemp/rest/services/Skred/BratteOmrApp/MapServer/tile/{z}/{y}/{x}. Here is the website it came from: https://geodata.ngi.no/arcgisportal/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=fd597e0179fe479b9274d95a90b00931
Thank you so much,
Neal

So when I copy http://gis2.ngi.no/arcgistemp/rest/services/Skred/BratteOmrApp/MapS... I see a warning about incompatible projection which would be consistent with a strange display. Unfortunately I don't speak Norwegian and am having a hard time with the website you linked to figure out what projection this data is being given in.

Can you tell me more about this layer? What projection is being used (i.e. WGS84, NAD27, etc). This is likely the source of this challenge.

Thanks for the reply. I don't actually know what projection is being used, since I'm pretty new at this stuff. Since the layer shows up in CalTopo, just at the wrong scale, is there any way to transform it once its in CalTopo? Or export it and re-import it at a different scale?

    Neal,
Sorry for the delayed response. I'm kicking this over to one of the developers. He typically answers in 24-48hrs to help further troubleshoot this.

    Best,
    Ben

I'm not sure what's going on there, but that tile-based endpoint (http://gis2.ngi.no/arcgistemp/rest/services/Skred/BratteOmrApp/MapS...) doesn't seem to support reprojection. Unfortunately I'm already running into language barrier limits trying to interact with that page; I got the below URL to work for what appears to be a different kind of shading (set the type to WMS in the custom layer dialog):

    http://gis3.nve.no/map/rest/services/SkredSnoAktR/MapServer/export?...

Is slope angle shading listed on http://gis3.nve.no/map/rest/services/SkredSnoAktR/MapServer/? If so you should be able to plug a different layer name into the above URL.

You probably already have this, but topos and satellite, pulled from that page as well (set custom layer to type Tile):
    https://services.geodataonline.no/arcgis/rest/services/Geocache_WMA...
    https://services.geodataonline.no/arcgis/rest/services/Geocache_WMA...

Success! I was able to get it to work by combining the URL that I was originally using (which I was trying to map as TMS) with the URL that you used, if that makes any sense: http://gis2.ngi.no/arcgistemp/rest/services/Skred/BratteOmrApp/MapServer/export?dpi=96&transparent=true&format=png32&layers=show:-1,-1,-1,0&bbox={left},{bottom},{right},{top}&bboxSR=102100&imageSR=102100&size={tilesize},{tilesize}&f=image

    Thanks so much!

Awesome we're glad you got it working. Norway is very much on our list of countries that we would like to add to our build in data sets at some point in the future. We are glad you got it up and running!
