Help! I am able to turn on the land management layer over my map, but it only shows outlines of DOD properties (black outlines). Can someone tell me how to display the other (particularly public hunting/FWS) outlines? See attached screenshot.

Is this a regional issue? I am in SoCal and am getting various land management boundary layers.

It is possible. Just to clarify, there are 2 or 3 public hunting land areas
(WMAs) that should be visible on the screen shot I posted.

    Thanks, Tom

Are WMAs typically shown on land management maps?

The data in that layer comes from the BLM's Surface Management Agency dataset. Granted I haven't imported a new copy in a year or two because they moved the data around, but I'm at the mercy of what they do or don't include.

There are definitely some gaps in the dataset for local- and state-owned land in the midwest and eastern states, a major example being the Adirondacks in New York. I couldn't tell you for sure whether WMAs are not included or those specific ones are just missing.

Is there a method for showing different types of public land, once the
public lands layer is displayed? Anything I need to click on?

    Thanks, Tom

    HI Tom,

I now understand that the tool relies on publicly available data, ie. we
are at the mercy of its availability and reliability by region. With
regards to the ability to display different types of public lands, in my
experience the entire layer is On/Off. At least in SoCal its a toggle
    layer.

You ever tried coming out west to hunt?

    Hi Tom,

cndiver72 is correct that the entire layer is toggled on or off. Unfortunately, for your area, the only data supplied by the BLM appears to be the DOD land. State controlled WMAs are not in this dataset.

If you can find the WMA data in the appropriate format from a public state level source, you can create your own custom map layer using this tutorial: (http://caltopo.blogspot.com/2014/04/custom-map-layers.html)
