Hello,

I'm very new to CALTOPO. When I Print to pdf or JPEG the results always end up a blank page. I have tried changing base layers to avoid anything google still to no avail. I've adjusted just about every setting I could immediately see to change, and still only get black sheets instead of maps.
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong! I want to love this program, so much, it is amazing, albeit frustrating right now for my inability to get a usable product.

    Hi Dana,

This is usually caused by custom icons or strange characters in the label names. If you want to share a Map ID with me I can take a look and find out for sure.

    Thanks,
    Julie

Thank you for responding so quickly, ma'am :)
The Map ID is 747L Test

I've attached some images to show example of my settings and results for your review as well.

    Good morning,
I'm not finding a map with that ID. It should be in a URL form of caltopo.com/m/XXXX where Xs are the ID. You may have given the ID after generating a PDF which would be different.

    Thanks,
    Ben

Sorry, Dana. By a "map" we mean the objects you add to the base layers. You are sharing a link for just the PDF with us. A map ID would have the letter M instead of P in the URL. Can you please copy the URL of the map viewer page (from before you open the print page) and send that? Also a screen shot of that page could be helpful.

    LOL! I figured it out.

For those new to this I highly recommend CAREFULLY reading "Getting Started with CalTopo/SARTopo" (knowledge base, Basics)

One MUST save an object on the map before the map can be saved!

Let my rush to failure be your success.

    Thank you CALTOPO Team!
    You have an AMAZING service!

    Dana,

That's great! But it still doesn't explain why you were getting a blank PDF page. Are you able to print a PDF now?

    Hey ma’am,

So I assumed that one could select an area and print, but once I added a single marker (any marker) it allowed me to print to pdf.

Not sure why, but it works  😊

    Thank you,

    V/R

    Hi Dana,

Hmm, well I'm glad that worked for you, but sounds like a bug. I can't reproduce it though, so not much I can do about it right now. Let us know if you have more problems.

    Thanks,
    Julie
