Is this at all user adjustable? For areas where we have a lot of recent development having both the aerial and topos on the same map is very helpful. And we still do carry around paper maps and grid readers as a back up but the lines are so thin they can be very hard to see. At least for the grid lines? Black? Thicker?

You can adjust grid line thickness for the map viewer (config menu -> UTM/USNG grid intensity), but not the printed map.

For topo lines, MapBuilder (a pro level feature) allows you to create a map layer with contour lines of the color you choose - white seems to work well over heavy tree canopy.

once i master all the basics at this level I may move up and learn about the pro level. Today and Yesterday have been offline map download days. The reality is if we have heavy tree canopy we are probably using topos.  Nancy Jocoy
