In the Profile pop-up window, when you scroll along the line, at the top left, you have the text

"cursor: <current elevation> at <distance to this point>"

could you add something like "with +<gross gain to this point>, -<gross loss to this point>"

after that? Then where you have the total gross gain and loss at the top center of the pop-up window, you could have

totals: <total distance of line> km, <total distance> mi, +<total gross gain of line>, -<total gross loss of line>

I'll think about it. The biggest issue is that for smaller screens, the dialog is already full - I can't add more text at the top without it overflowing, or making some decisions about what to display based on screen size.

The secondary consideration is that while gross gain/loss is initially computed from the returned elevation points (generally 200 or 300), I also have code to compute the gross numbers on the server (only used for the full-screen terrain stats dialog at the moment, but that may change), at which point I can't display the gross up to the cursor, or if I do, it won't match the total numbers, which would be confusing.
